Routes offered by Devin hotel Ismena
I. Ecopath along Devinska river and Kaleto route:
It is located 3 kilometers away from the hotel. The Eco-path passes over the river itself on bridges. The nature is wild and beautiful and, moreover, the ecopath itself is a game reserve. You can see with naked eye the Balkan trout, crayfish, rare herbal species such as Bezsmartniche, also called Flower of Orpheus.
After 1 km walking over the bridges, you will reach the so called place "Lakata" and from there on you can reach the "Kaleto" citadel. It represents antique citadel remains situated on a high rocky peak. The wall, overlooking a deep precipice, is now partly reconstructed on the east side. It was probably built during the 8th - 10th century of broken stone cemented with white mortar. "Kaleto" is one of the last citadels where the heroic Rhodope people defended courageously their freedom from the Ottoman invaders.
II. Trigrad gorge, the caves "Devil's Throat" and "Haramiyska" route:
The gorge is 2-3 km long, starting at "Devil's Throat". Enormous vertical rocks press the Trigrad river on both sides narrowing its bed, and the river makes its way into a narrow canyon-like ravine. Suddenly the water sinks down into a 60-meter-deep precipice to form the most majestic underground waterfall in our country. It is from here that the underground path of the river starts - the river passes through a large cave hall, then through a smaller one and after about 600 m it appears again on the surface.
III. Yagodinsko gorge and "Strawberry Cave" route:
Yagodinsko gorge occupies 35 sq.km and belongs to the Rhodope mountain system. It is built of different marble varieties and takes bizarre surface and underground forms. The Karst fascinates with the beauty of its world, with the work of the most patient creator - the water drop!
The pearl of that beautiful gorge is the 10-kilometer-long, three-storied, labyrinth path weaving through the "Strawberry Cave". In it were found remains of ceramic vessels from the eneolith and the Bronze Age. The characteristic vessels with biconic form made on a potter's wheel: bowls, repository earthen jars, vases and pots, are of special historic interest. A 1100-meter-long path has been built on the lowermost storey. Any visitor who wishes to have a look at the kingdom of the underground world, will have the opportunity to see numerous stalactites, stalagmites, stalactones, "leopard skins", "pearls" and real pearls.
IV. r"Kastraklii" and "Keremov Bridge" Reserve route
The reserve is situated 20 kilometers away from the town of Devin, down the stream of "Malka Reka" river and "Kobilino Branishte" river valley in the country surrounding Borino village at an altitude of 1000-1220 m, comprising a territory of 124 hectares. On it some of the best preserved pine woods are being conservated. A considerable part of them are over 200-year old. The floristic diversity of the protected territory involves 337 species of higher plants. Here is to be found the unique for the country natural phenomenon - 900 species of butterflies dancing over the Kastrakliiski meadows.
"Keremov Bridge" is another name for Roman arc bridge. The whole tour from Devin to it lasts from 3 to 5 hours. The huge stone arc (of cut stones, without support) - 3 m wide, 30 m long and 6 m high - is thrown across Devin river. The bridge is acknowledged as a cultural monument. It is the only Roman bridge preserved till our time.
V. "Chairite" Place route
It is a protected place with landslide lakes, glens and spruce forests among which is the so called "Tipsy Forest". It is situated 30 km away from Devin.
VI. Visit to the observatory on Rozhen peak where visitors can make observations
The hotel offers walks and outings as well.
It organizes photo-hunting in the heart of "Izvora" reserve, combined with bicycle tours through the picturesque country "Lisichevo" and "Availiite".
For all the guests who wish, the hotel organizes picking up of herbs, mushrooms, forest fruits (raspberries, blueberries) from which they can prepare sweet jams right here at the hotel.
For the fishing enthusiasts it organizes sport fishing along Devin river and Buynovska river and the dams "Dospat" and "Anton Ivanovtsi".
For the hunters it offers shooting at wild goat, deer, stag and other wild game.
The hotel complex organizes bicycle tours on individual routes and on routes announced by Devin hotel Ismena.
